"I definitely cannot afford health
insurance right now. I'd rather take my chances and use the money for other
priorities like rent, car, gas, whatever. If I have to see a doctor, I'll pay
out of pocket or charge it and pay later. But, if I had to go to the hospital I
don't know how it would be paid for." |

Medicaid is a very low-cost option if you are
eligible to participate in this public-sponsored health insurance
program.
Medicaid is the health plan for families with low
incomes and for people who have long-term medical problems. This health
insurance coverage is available through the Alabama Medicaid Agency. Medicaid
has insurance for low-income pregnant women, children, and disabled
individuals, as well as for certain people on Medicare and nursing home
residents. You can apply for Medicaid online or in person at designated
Medicaid application offices. For more information, call 1-800-362-1504 or
visit the Medicaid web site.
